Summer, Kind of Wonderful Episode 2×01.

Summer, Kind of Wonderful Episode 2×01.

Aw, shucks. Gossip Girl missed yet another opportunity for a cross over with The O.C. Summer Roberts *is* kind of wonderful. I digress.

Ahhhhh, season 2 of Gossip Girl. I have hazy, funny, warm, good memories about this season, but I’m scared to revisit it. Sometimes when you revisit the past, it’s not as good as you remember it.  I do wonder how many men Serena slept with this summer and what Blair will do to exact revenge on Chuck for leaving her stranded at the helipad. It must have been a summer for our favourite characters. read more

The New Class Season 2, Episode 3: “Let the Games Begin”

The New Class Season 2, Episode 3: “Let the Games Begin”

This episode wastes no time in getting right to the plot as we open with Mr. Belding telling the employees of the country club that there will be a members verses employees tournament Sunday and, if the employees win, the members will serve them for a day. Gee, I wonder what’s going to happen. I’m in such suspense. vlcsnap-2014-07-13-18h08m18s132

Mr. Harrington randomly pulls up to talk smack about the employees and we find out that, in the seven years he has been club president, the members have never lost. GEE, I WONDER WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN? I mean it’s not like this plot is completely cliché and has been done a thousand times, including on the original series. Oh, and I’m fast seeing that they’re playing Alison off as a character who thinks Screech can do no wrong and her father can do no right.vlcsnap-2014-07-13-18h09m09s142 read more

Growing Pains Season 1, Episode 14, “First Blood.”

Growing Pains Season 1, Episode 14, “First Blood.”

Sorry did the wrong episode again.

This episode is a preachy PSA about how fighting is wrong. If that doesn’t get you hooked I don’t know what will.

“First Blood” starts with Mike on the phone making up an excuse as to why he CAN’T go on a date.

What?!

Well the reason is the girl is asking him to a wedding and there’s going to be dancing. Mike doesn’t like dancing for some reason. We’re never really give a reason. I guess the writers just forgot. Maybe the writers forgot how to “write” too. read more

Saved by the Bell Season 2, Episode 12: “Close Encounters of the Nerd Kind”

Saved by the Bell Season 2, Episode 12: “Close Encounters of the Nerd Kind”

When I recapped season one, I alluded to the fact that there were more episodes produced for that season than the sixteen I reviewed. NBC ordered a total of twenty episodes for season one but, for reasons that are beyond me, chose to shelf four of those episodes. They aired all four episodes later on, two during season two and two during season four. Because I’ve chosen to take a look at the episodes in order of airing, I am treating them as episodes of season two and season four and referring to them as “out of season episodes.” read more

Gossip Girl Season 1. A look back.

We saw the best of times (Georgina wrecking havoc on everyone’s live, Blair getting wild at Vitrola, limo sex, Mean Girls and headbands) and the worst of times (Anything from Brooklyn invading the Upper East Side, Lily having to be a parent once or twice, Nate’s father Captain Not a Very Good Person pretending his drugs were Nate’s, committing fraud and embezzlement and a bunch of other boring crimes, then skipping town).

The pilot showed Serena returning from a mysterious trip to boarding school after Eric attempted suicide (later assumed to be his inability to deal with being gay, but as the show glossed over this plot point, we just have to make an ass out of u and me about it). We later find out it was not because she took her best friend’s boyfriend’s virginity but because later that evening, she unknowingly made a snuff film. Had she not told Pete to do another line of coke because she wasn’t feeling sex with him, perhaps Pete would be alive today! read more
